The aim of the present study is to investigate the effectiveness of employing English language in teaching science, on the basis of the ESP, approach on developing reading comprehension skills of second year preparatory stage students at the experimental language schools. The problem of this study was limited to a sample of the students of one experimental language school located at Damietta.  They were poor in reading comprehension skills while learning science. The study followed the quasi-experimental design.   The subject of the study were (30) students, enrolled in one intact class; the experimental group. This class was selected at random from the experimental language schools in Damietta.

The results of administering the pre-post reading comprehension skills test showed that there is a statistically significant difference at 0.001 level between the mean scores of the experimental group on the pre-post test in favor of the post-test of ESP reading comprehension skills.  The findings of the present study revealed that employing English in teaching science on the basis of the ESP approach had a positive effect on developing the experimental group students_ reading comprehension skills.
