The study of the effects of microwave/radiofrequency emitted from mobile phone base stations on humans are an emerging area of investigation. Therefore, this study was designed to study the effect of one of the mobile phones base station on lipid peroxidation, as well as on liver tissues deterioration when rats exposed to their emitted radiation. In this study, Wister Albino rats (n= 30) were divided into two groups; namely, normal rats’ group (n= 12) and rats’ exposed to the stations’ energy (n= 18) for 24 hours/day for 8 weeks. Results: Serum albumin level as well as liver enzymes were reduced after exposure compared with those of the control group (p< 0.001). In addition, the mean activity of superoxide dismutase and that of total antioxidant capacity and the mean level of glutathione reduced form were significantly decrease when compared with those of the control group (p< 0.03, p< 0.0004 and p< 0.04, respectively). On the other hand, the mean level of malondialdehyde was significantly increased compared with those of the control group (p< 0.04). From the previous results, it was concluded that, radiofrequency emitted from mobile phone base stations can induce inflammation and oxidative stress exegravation in rats. This type of stress mediates rats’ liver tissues deterioration during irradiation from the mobile phone base station.
