Effectiveness of Management Information Systems Application in Clothing Factories

Information is one of management resources, so it is manageable like any other resource. The increase in depend on information is referred to the interaction and complexity of activities, beside the fast development in technology and computer application. Information system which consists of personnel, records, and operations is capable to process data and information within any system.

The current paper studies the effectiveness of management information systems application in clothing factories in Egypt through applying a questionnaire including the activities of MIS on a sample of 20 factories, factories were ranked into three categories according to their productivity and manpower.

It was concluded that MIS is highly implemented and used in decision making in big factories, but it decreases gradually in lower levels. All factories are highly interested in personnel and production MIS. Safety and marketing scored the least levels of MIS implementation. Accordingly it is recommended to widely apply integrated MIS software special for clothing factories and capable to communicate the whole information sources.
