Plasmon energy measurements of λ in Nb3Ge and Nb

Reflection electron energy loss spectroscopy from thick trisputtered films has been used to measure the plasmon energy in Nb, Nb-Ti alloys, and Nb3Ge. The respective plasmon energies in Nb, Nb0.45 Ti0.55 and Nb3Ge are measured to be 9.65±0.10, 8.90 ±0.08, and 4.91 ± 0.08 eV. When these values are combined with restivity data λ values of 1.19 ± 0.12 for Nb and 2.65 ± 0.40 for Nb3Ge are obtained.
