he ligand named (H2L: 2,2'-((1E, 1′E)-(1,3 phenylene bis (azanylylidene)) bis (methanylylidene))diphenol) was prepared from the reaction of m-phenylenediamine and 2-hydroxybenzaldehyde. A series of Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Cr(III), Mn(II), Fe(III), Zn(II) and Cd(II) complexes of the ligand were prepared and characterized using different physicochemical techniques. The infrared spectral data showed that the chelation occurs through the deprotonated phenolic oxygen and azomethine nitrogen atoms of the ligand. The data showed that the complexes have composition of ML type. An octahedral geometry around the central metal ions in the complexes was suggested
