The Role Of The Educatinal Media Specialist in The Egyptian Schools Through The Modern Concepts of The Media Literacy

The researcher aimed at putting forward a concept for the role ofmedia literacy specialist in disseminating modern media literacy concepts. The researcher also attempted to determine the main obstacles hindering media education specialists from fulfilling his role in propagating concepts of media literacy in a bid to reach a set of a number of results, recommendations and proposals that can be employed in media education at schools.

 

Sample of study:The field study was administered on a population of preparatory school media literacy specialists.

Type of study and its method: This study is a descriptive study as the researcher employed all-out survey method

Statistical method: The researcher used statistical manipulations which outfit the study nature (i.e., simple repetitions and percentages, Person Test, convergence variable, χ2 Test, T-test, ANOVA test.

Summary of results of the study:the researcher found a set of results, including:

1-     The findings showed that the concept of media education is not established in preparatory schools.

2-     The results pointed out lack of interest in training media education specialists on modern media education    concepts, as 82% of the individual of the research population didn’t receive training courses in media education.

3-     The study also showed that 54% of the individual of the research population referred to lack of school materialistic potentials represented the main hindrance in the way of adopting media literacy at schools.

4-     The study, furthermore, indicates that the vast majority of prep school students don’t have the slightest idea about media literacy.
