In this course students will study: Sequence stratigraphy in the historical context; advances in stratigraphy and processsedimentology Formation and architecture of sedimentary basins. Basic principles of sequence stratigraphy: accommodation, chronostratigraphy, unconformities, scales of practice (outcrop, logs, cores and reflection seismic); introduction to stacking patterns and seismic reflection configurations and terminations; seismic surfaces. Systems tracts: principal and minor tracts. Sequence stratigraphy models, applications of concepts to depositional systems: Fluvial systems, Paralic systems, Deep-marine clastic systems, and carbonate systems, Organic-rich facies and Hydrocarbon source  rocks. Applications of concepts to reservoir-scale problems in carboantes
