The aim of the study was to investigate how far a proposed program based on using self-regulation strategy, as a study habit-formation, can develop the writing skills of post-intermediate learners of English as a foreign language.  The subjects of the study were a group of EFL prospective teachers of EFL studying at the department of English, college of education, Port Said university.  Among other things, the results of the study revealed that the suggested program was effective in developing the subjects_ argumentative writing skills.
