This study investigates the effectiveness of a proposed program based on utilizing transactional strategies for teaching reading comprehension.  The subjects of the study was a group of secondary school students.  Among other findings, the results of the study reveal that the use of transactional strategies in the EFL class had a positive impact on developing secondary school students_ critical reading
